OtterHalf

Why Aren't I Receiving My SMS (text) verification?

For security reasons, OtterHalf cannot manually verify mobile phone numbers. All verification must be completed through our automated SMS system.

If a verification code doesn't arrive after you enter your phone number, here are the most common causes:

  1. The phone number entered doesn't match your registered number.
  2. Your mobile carrier has blocked SMS messages or short codes (the type of messages we use for verification).
  3. You're using a prepaid or pay-as-you-go phone plan that may have restrictions.

Troubleshooting steps:

First, ensure you have the most recent version of OtterHalf installed. Double-check that your phone number is entered correctly (including country code), then attempt verification again.

If multiple failed verification attempts have triggered a security lockout, you'll need to wait a minimum of 24 hours before trying again. This security measure cannot be bypassed manually.

Contact your mobile service provider to verify that message blocking is turned off for your account.

When speaking with your carrier, explain that you need to receive SMS Short Codes (the specific type of text message OtterHalf uses to send verification codes). Some carriers block these by default for security reasons.
