How do I request a copy of my personal data?
If your profile is still active, you can request a data export directly in the OtterHalf app. Most exports are ready within 30 days. Your data will be available for 48 hours before it expires to protect your privacy and security. Note that not all data is accessible. For privacy reasons, exports do not include personal information about other OtterHalf members you matched or interacted with.
Requesting Your Data in the App:
- Sign in to the OtterHalf app
- Tap the Profile tab (far right of the navigation bar)
- Tap the Gear Icon to open Settings
- Scroll down to the Legal section
- Tap Download My Data
- Follow the on-screen instructions to contact support through the Help tab
- Select Privacy as the category
- Write "I would like to download my personal data" in your message
We'll process your request within 7 business days.
Banned Accounts:
Banned members can also use our in-app download-my-data tool.
From the Ban Notification screen, scroll down to the Legal section. Select Download My Data to start your request. After submitting, you'll receive a notification confirming we received it, and another when your data is ready. The export expires after 48 hours. If you haven't accessed your data within that time, you must resubmit your request.
Deleted Accounts:
If you closed your OtterHalf account, you cannot use our in-app Download My Data feature since you no longer have an account. In that case, request your data by contacting us directly:
- Contact us by emailing hello@otterhalf.app or use our Request Form
- Choose Privacy Request as the support topic
- Select I want to access or download my data from the dropdown
