Prohibited Content & Behavior
Content Guidelines on OtterHalf
At OtterHalf, we want to help you find real, meaningful connections. That means creating a space that prioritizes respect and good intentions, where people feel comfortable showing up as the most authentic version of themselves.
To maintain this space, certain things aren't allowed on profiles, in photos, or in messages.
In accordance with our Terms, we will remove profiles that upload prohibited content or engage in prohibited behavior. This is how we maintain the integrity of our platform and create a more positive experience for all daters.
How We Protect Your Content:
When you share content on OtterHalf, such as photos, videos, or voice notes, you're adding your voice to a community that values respect and vulnerability. We understand how much it takes to put yourself out there, so we take care in how content is handled and reviewed.
Our moderation systems, both automated and human, are designed to:
- Keep the Community Safe by detecting harmful content
- Respect Personal Expression as long as it aligns with our guidelines
- Enforce Balance by reviewing reports thoughtfully, not just removing content because it is flagged.
In short, we're protecting our space by protecting the users in it, without overreaching into content that makes our users unique.
Additionally, please know we take your privacy seriously. Your content is stored securely, and we follow strict data protections to keep it safe.
What to Avoid
Now let's break down what to avoid when posting or interacting on OtterHalf:
Harmful or Disrespectful Behavior
OtterHalf is committed to supporting all users and does not tolerate hate, abuse or harassment. This includes:
- Insults, threats, bullying or harassment of any kind.
- Content or messaging that shames, embarrasses, or targets another person.
- Anything that encourages hate or discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, or identity.
Everyone deserves to be treated with respect here. If it's not kind, it's not welcome.
Graphic or Inappropriate Material
OtterHalf is a space for genuine connection, not shock value. Please don't share:
- Pornographic, or sexually explicit imagery
- Depictions of violence, including activities that may harm another person
- Nudity
- Content that promotes self-harm, eating disorders, or unsafe challenges
This includes photos, videos, or written responses on your profile or in chats.
Illegal or Dangerous Behavior
Safety is a top priority at OtterHalf. The app should never be used to promote or engage in:
- Criminal activity of any kind
- Hateful ideologies or extremism
- Any form of exploitation or coercion: financial, emotional, or physical.
If it could put someone in danger or break the law, it doesn't belong here.
Unsolicited Promotions or Transactions
OtterHalf is for dating—not for sales pitches or side hustles. Please avoid:
- Ads or promotions of any kind, including sugar dating
- Linking out to other websites or payment platforms
- Sending spam or mass solicitations
Connections on the app should be about people, not promotions.
Misrepresentation or Violations of Privacy
OtterHalf works best when everyone shows up as themselves. That's why we don't allow users to:
- Misrepresent themselves by posting someone else's photo or likeness
- Include minors in any photos, including childhood photos of users
- Use fake identities or AI-generated content to mislead others
- Share content you didn't create or don't have permission to use
What you share should be real, personal, and current.
Anything That Misuses OtterHalf
Let's keep the app functioning as it's meant to. That means:
- Don't post things unrelated to dating or personal connections
- Don't try to manipulate the platform, or damage its reputation or functionality
- Don't attempt to upload viruses, malware, or anything designed to harm people's devices
The goal is simple: meet someone great, not game the system.
As a Reminder
Uploading or sharing content that violates our Terms ("Prohibited Content") may result in the immediate suspension or termination of your account.
