Prohibited Content & Behavior
Content guidelines
OtterHalf is for real connections. To keep it that way, we ask everyone to keep profiles, photos, and messages respectful and within our rules.
Our Terms allow us to remove content and accounts that break these rules so the app stays a positive place for everyone.
How we moderate
Photos, videos, and messages on OtterHalf are reviewed using both automated systems and human reviewers. We aim to:
- Find and take action on harmful content
- Allow expression that fits our guidelines
- Look at reports fairly rather than removing everything that gets flagged
Content is stored and handled according to our data protection practices.
What to avoid
Below is a breakdown of what to avoid when posting or interacting on OtterHalf:
Hate, abuse & harassment
We support all users and do not allow hate, abuse, or harassment. That includes:
- Threats, insults, bullying, or harassment in any form
- Content or messages that shame, embarrass, or single out another person
- Content that promotes hate or discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, or identity
Treat everyone with respect. If it's not kind, it's not welcome.
Sexually explicit or violent content
OtterHalf is for genuine connection, not shock value. Do not share:
- Sexually explicit or pornographic imagery
- Violence or content that could harm another person
- Nudity
- Content that promotes self-harm, eating disorders, or unsafe challenges
This applies to photos, videos, and text on your profile or in chats.
Illegal or dangerous activity
Safety comes first. Do not use the app to promote or take part in:
- Any criminal activity
- Hateful ideologies or extremism
- Exploitation or coercion—financial, emotional, or physical
If it could endanger someone or break the law, it doesn't belong on OtterHalf.
Ads and unsolicited promotions
OtterHalf is for dating, not for sales or side hustles. Avoid:
- Advertising or promoting anything, including sugar dating
- Links to other sites or payment platforms
- Spam or mass solicitations
Keep the focus on people, not promotions.
Fake identities & privacy violations
The app works best when everyone is themselves. We don't allow:
- Using someone else's photo or likeness to pretend to be them
- Photos of minors, including childhood photos of the user
- Fake identities or AI-generated content used to mislead others
- Posting content you didn't create or don't have permission to use
Share only what is real, personal, and current.
Platform misuse
Use the app as intended. That means:
- No content unrelated to dating or personal connection
- No trying to manipulate the platform or harm its reputation or functionality
- No viruses, malware, or anything meant to harm others' devices
The goal: meet someone great, not game the system.
Reminder
Content that violates our Terms (including "Prohibited Content") can lead to immediate suspension or termination of your account.

Unsure whether something crosses the line? If it feels off, don't do it. When in doubt, lead with kindness and respect.
